Institutional to residential conversions are rarely simple. And the double-fronted Old Nunnery, last used by the Salesian Sisters of John Bosco, was no exception.

Purchased in 1994 for £173,000 and spread over 2,898 sq ft, the dormitories, chapel, garage, garden and enormous kitchen had fallen into disrepair. Worse still, the Victorian features had all been stripped out. The property needed careful handling as well as a clear vision if it was to realise its potential.

After gaining permission to return the building to its former residential glory, we commissioned local builders and craftsmen to restore its original features. And by giving it the authentic finish it deserved, we were able to create a stunning six bedroom, four bathroom family home.

Altogether, the work took just 12 months to complete. After letting it for two years, we sold the Old Nunnery in 1997 for £435,000.
